Fire season

At the beginning of March we had several weeks that were very dry (no rain). One weekend we had severe winds and there were quite a few fires around our county. One fire began on the other side of the Shenandoah National Park, crossed over Skyline Drive and traveled down through the park towards where our property is (location of the future house...maybe). The fire came about 500 yards from the edge of the park line but never left the park. However, there was a lot of action for about 3 days with firefighters from all over the state and east coast. One evening I got a pretty good picture of the backburn that was set to stop the fire. I guess it wasn't much, but it was action we don't typically see. The kids thought it was really interesting. The fire line is right near the top of the ridge. It is kind of hard to see. That is Jeremy's truck down on the property.
